Description: Describes history, benefits and physiology of moist wound
Description: This 23-minute video is designed for nursing students, but is still a good description of a dressing change. The title of the video states that is it sterile, but this is actually clean technique. Sterile technique technically requires a sterile room like an OR. Plus she doesn’t use sterile gloves in the beginning – they are boxed – which means that this is clean technique and not sterile. In the beginning she takes offer her gloves and puts them on the table, and throws them out later which is a HUGE no-no. She also sets up her sterile field and dressing supplies while the poor patient’s wound is just open this should really be done before the dressing is removed to limit exposure. When she takes off the sterile gloves, the proper procedure is to wash hands immediately after glove removal. But she immediately picks up the ABD pad. But, overall it’s pretty thorough
