Medicare Therapy Cap Exceptions Process to Expire via APTA on 3.27.2015 “The US Senate’s decision to adjourn without taking up the sustainable growth rate (SGR) repeal bill passed by the House on Wednesday gives physical therapists (PTs) and their supporters more time to press lawmakers for a repeal of the Medicare outpatient therapy cap. That’s the good news. The not-as-good news? The current extension for SGR and exceptions to the therapy cap expire on March 31, and the Senate doesn’t reconvene until April 13.” Read more …
Doctors Holding Out On Patients with Alzheimers? via NPR on 3.24.2015 “Doctors are much more likely to level with patients who have cancer than patients who have Alzheimer’s, according to a report released this week by the Alzheimer’s Association. The report found that just 45 percent of Medicare patients who’d been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s said they were informed of the diagnosis by their doctor. By contrast, more than 90 percent of Medicare patients with cancer said they were told by their doctor.” Read more …
